He has recently announced on his Instagram account that he will be selling his mid-century home that is situation just outside New York City. Although Moby has only lived in the property for a few months and according to his Instagram account thinks it is the “It’s one of the most beautiful houses I’ve seen”, he told his fans that he is rarely there, so has put the house on the market for $1.3 million.
Any profits he makes from the sale will be donated to progressive causes and animal rights charities including his own stating on his Instagram account that he is going to “support progressive political candidates, support my animal rights foundation, produce documentaries, and fund scholarships.”
In the recent past Moby announced that he will be selling his entire record collection record collection, donating the money from the sale to Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine – an anti-cruelty Physicians committee that works “tirelessly for alternatives to the use of animals in medical education and research and advocating for more effective scientific methods.” Prior to this, Moby donated profits made from selling some of his electrical equipment to the same organisation and donated profits made from his latest album sales to various animal rights organisations.
In addition to this, last year Moby collaborated with Restaurateur Ravi DeRossi to open an all vegan New York City based restaurant and cocktail bar called Ladybirds. Moby is also an investor in a plant-based restaurant called Little Pines that is situated in Los Angeles.
Moby is a dedicated animal rights activist and has been vegan for over 30 years now with his vegan anniversary falling on the Thanksgiving of 1987. Moby speaks very openly about his feelings towards veganism and does not tire in his attempts to progress the movement – once again setting a perfect example of a celebrity using their fame to boost positive causes.
